Students, staff, and district leaders gathered on May 15, 2026, at Greenbriar School for a groundbreaking to mark the start of construction, as part of the district's Build 28 initiative. Representatives from DLA Architects and Reed Construction also joined the school community at the event.

Equipped with hard hats and ceremonial shovels, the students and staff gathered outside the building for photos to commemorate the beginning of a project that will help create updated learning spaces for current and future Greenbriar students.

Phase I, which is anticipated to run from summer 2026 to spring 2027, includes building a new classroom wing addition behind the gymnasium to replace the 76-year-old classroom wing along Greenbriar Lane. Phase II, which is anticipated to run from spring 2027 to winter 2028, includes building a new cafetorium (cafeteria/auditorium) addition and renovating the existing multipurpose room.

The Build 28 initiative was made possible through the community’s support of a $94.9 million referendum in 2025. In addition, the district is using $20 million from its operating funds to fund the projects.

Additional construction updates will be shared with families and the community as work progresses. Click here to keep track of all the latest updates from Greenbriar.
