Familiar Face Appointed New Greenbriar Principal

District 28 is pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan Dames as the next Principal of Greenbriar School, effective July 1, 2026. 

A dedicated educator with 24 years of experience, Ms. Dames is a familiar face to the District 28 community. From 2012 to 2025, she worked as Greenbriar’s School Social Worker. In July 2025, Ms. Dames was promoted to an administrative role as the Assistant Director of Student Services at Meadowbrook School. Ms. Dames also worked for several years as the Principal of the district’s Summer Enrichment Program.  

Her selection followed a thorough search process, beginning with community feedback that shaped the ideal candidate profile, administrative interviews, and a parent/teacher interview team. 

“The Greenbriar community identified that they wanted someone who is student-centered, someone who shows warmth, humor, and interest in others, and someone who demonstrates excellent communication skills,” said Dr. Jason Pearson, Superintendent of Schools. “Ms. Dames possesses all of these qualities and has a deep understanding of Greenbriar’s school climate and culture, and how to best support the school community moving forward.”

Before beginning her journey in District 28, Ms. Dames started her career in education as a School Social Worker in Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34. 

“I am grateful for this opportunity and beyond excited to return to Greenbriar School as its next Principal,” Ms. Dames said. “One of the things I love most about the Greenbriar community is the strong partnership between staff and families, which supports our students as they grow and develop into lifelong learners. I want to thank Dr. Pearson for this opportunity, and I look forward to reconnecting with the students, staff, and families soon.”    

Ms. Dames holds a master’s degree in Education Administration from Benedictine University, as well as a master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
