Students, staff, and district leaders gathered on May 15, 2026, at Greenbriar School for a groundbreaking to mark the start of construction, as part of the district's Build 28 initiative.

District 28 is pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan Dames as the next Principal of Greenbriar School, effective July 1, 2026. 

District 28 has been recognized for the 11th straight year by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. District 28 is one of just 31 school districts recognized in Illinois this year, out of 850 school districts across the state. 

At the Feb. 24, 2026, District 28 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved Alanna Lambert as the new Assistant Director of Student Services at Greenbriar School.

At the March Board of Education meeting, the Board approved Dr. Eric Apgar as the district's new Director of Student Services. He will begin in his new role on July 1.
